Woodland Food Closet provides a basic, direct service. We provide 3 days of food, 9 meals in all to individuals or families who don’t have any other way to obtain it.
Some of the people we serve are elderly as well. Still others are disabled or suffering from a serious debilitating illness. They have nowhere else to turn for basic sustenance.
All clients are referred by a social service agency. We accept referrals from all agencies in town. These include the Department of Social Services, Yolo Family Resource Center, Wayfarer’s Center, Pregnancy Support Group, Migrant Education, Yolo County Health Department, Peterson Heath Clinic, Hotel Woodland, Head Start Program, churches and schools. A referral form is completed and the client comes to the Woodland Food Closet that day.
Volunteers will pack a three day supply of food, three meals a day for every member of the family from the information received off the referral. We are a temporary service, usually one-time only, not an ongoing source of food.
Woodland Food Closet accepts referrals from all agencies in Woodland, and Yolo County. Agencies may contact the Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org to complete a referral form based on the information you receive from your client. The entire form must be completed, with the agency name and phone number/extension, and the client’s identity must be verified. The form can then be faxed to the Woodland Food Closet by 3:00 P.M. and the original is provided to your client to bring to the Food Closet the same day.
